Jacob Wright revealed he didn’t think he had scored a more important goal after his stunning late, late free-kick fired City to a dramatic 2-1 FA Youth Cup quarter final win at home to Tottenham.

City had appeared to be heading for defeat when Tyrese Hall fired the visitors into a 61st minute lead.

But City showed great character to summon up am amazing turnaround in the last 10 minutes.

First Luka Fletcher levelled affairs on 84 minutes, striking from close range.

And then Wright sealed a stunning comeback by executing a wonderful 89th minute 20-yard  free-kick to seal victory and fire City into the semi-finals.

“It’s a whirlwind of emotions right now,” Jacob admitted.

“We went a goal and it’s always tough to come back.

“But we showed great spirit and we also believed we had a way back into it.

“I get told off for practicing to much on the training pitch, but it paid off today.

“I don’t think there has been a more important one.

“The lads worked so hard, and everyone played their part.

“Now we have a home tie to look forward and we are all excited about it.”
