Our series ‘Best Bits’ returns to bring you the key highlights from John Stones’ impressive involvement in our Treble-winning season.

The England international has exceeded expectations game after game this season as he flaunted his composure and experience in City’s defence and midfield.

The hybrid role he was deployed in by Pep Guardiola had fans confused at first. But the 29-year-old showed how vital the role can be, especially against the strongest teams in Europe.

The overloading Stones aided in when City attacked was impossible to handle by the opposition.

And it even helped him score a handful of important goals himself in the process, including his rocket against Borussia Dortmund.

And while making a nuisance of himself in the opposition’s half, Stones also showed his ability to set up his team mates, either beginning a goal-scoring phase of play or even assisting a goal or two.

Defensively, Stones showed why he is one of the best defenders in the league, with highlights against Crystal Palace, Fulham and Chelsea to name a few all included in his montage.
