Stefan Ortega Moreno was pleased with City's performance, but gutted about the result against Newcastle in the Third Round of the Carabao Cup.

Alexander Isak’s second-half goal secured progression into the next round for the hosts, condemning Pep Guardiola‘s men to our first defeat against the Magpies across all competitions since January 2019.

Ortega Moreno, who played the entire 90 minutes at St James’ Park, was encouraged by the overall display from the team, but was downbeat about the result.

“I think the performance was quite well,” he said.

“We had a lot of rotation today. How we played was really good against this tough opponent. They press all the time. We had a lot of ball possession and tried to play our style of football.

“We had a lot of young players. It was tough today. At the end, I’m disappointed about the result.

“I think they only had one or two chances today, not more. So it’s unlucky.”

The German also spoke about Oscar Bobb, after the youngster made his first senior start for the club, whilst also touching on the return from injury for Jack Grealish and Mateo Kovacic.
