Pep Guardiola has explained how City’s FIFA Club World Cup experience can benefit his players ahead of a difficult Premier League trip to Everton.

City’s 4-0 triumph over Brazilian side Fluminense added a fifth trophy to the cabinet for 2023 and confirmed our status as Champions of the World in the process.

But the focus shifts back to the Premier League on Wednesday, with City facing a resurgent Everton at Goodison Park.

Pep Guardiola’s men are aiming to become the first side in English football history to win four successive top flight titles this year, but the boss has stressed the importance of focusing solely on the short term to continue that push.

However, the boss believes the overall experience of the Club World Cup has left a positive impact on both his players and staff ahead of our trip to Merseyside.

He explained: “Never at the start of the season when we arrive do we think how many titles we will win. It’s a horrible approach.

“The approach is recovery, and Goodison Park. Further than that, nothing exists.

“These days [at the FIFA Club World Cup] were really good because we created an incredible team building and spirit.

“Kyle [Walker] drove us and guided us and all the backroom staff were all together, played games together and talked together. We recovered.

“It was really good days, and to perform in those conditions, the humidity, hot, the pitch conditions, we behaved really, really well.”
