Pep Guardiola insists City are equipped to deal without John Stones in the England defender's absence.

Stones has suffered a stop-start campaign so far through injury.

He is now unavailable for this weekend’s clash with Sheffield United after being substituted during Wednesday’s win at Everton.

Despite agreeing that Stones is very important to his squad, Guardiola believes City have demonstrated we can live without the 29-year-old.

“We handled it this season. Still we are there. We are not far away from top of the league,” he said.

“We won already two titles this season, we have qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League.

“John is important. I love to have everyone but when they are not there for many reasons what can I do? Complain?

“It’s not our style. John is not there.

“We will help to recover like Erling, Jeremy, Kevin and all the players who are not fit, and go with the players we have.”
