In Bangalore, India, young leaders are working to improve access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).

Bangalore faces water scarcity throughout the year and many of Bangalore’s lakes and water bodies also face water pollution issues. In 2020, reports indicated that over 85% of the city’s lakes were polluted by industrial effluents, sewage discharge, and other pollutants.

Sandeep and the team of young leaders in Bangalore are working to educate young people on the importance of water management and safe WASH practises.

Sandeep said: “As a young leader of Bangalore, I am trying to solve water issues so that the next generation doesn’t face any of these challenges.

We have been fond of football since childhood, so we have created football sessions where we also educate children about health, hygiene and the usage of different types of water.

As a result, kids have started using more hygienic and clean water and have started to teach their parents on how water is to be used.”

This Cityzens Giving project is delivered in partnership with Magic Bus.
