Gareth Taylor was full of praise for Ellie Roebuck as she returned from a five-month injury layoff in Manchester City’s 8-0 Women’s FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest.

Roebuck, who has been out with a calf problem picked up whilst representing Great Britain at last summer’s Olympics, made her first appearance of the season as City cruised into the fifth round.

Our dominant display meant the goalkeeper was rarely tested in the East Midlands, but Taylor was pleased with her contribution and says she has already made a difference since coming back to training.

“[She was] great,” he told mancity.com.

“She had a little save to make and she was involved in some parts of our build up play, which was great.

“It’s just good to have her back. We have seen the difference in training, just having her training with us.

“You forget what she brings, a wealth of experience even though she is still young and that confidence to the back line. It was a good day.”

The manager also shared his thoughts on Georgia Stanway‘s record-breaking display and discussed Steph Houghton and Ellen White‘s fitness ahead of Thursday’s Continental Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur.
