City goalkeeper Khiara Keating wants her team-mates to channel the energy from November's defeat of Manchester United in this week's Continental Cup tie.

We were 3-1 winners in front of a bumper Old Trafford crowd in our Barclays Women’s Super League clash just over two months ago.

Now, we welcome our rivals to the Joie Stadium on Wednesday night for a Continental Cup group stage game.

The 19:00 (UK) kick-off is available to watch live with a CITY+ subscription via mancity.com or our official app.

Victory would see us surpass United as group leaders and guarantee our place in the quarter-finals.

Ahead of this one, Keating believes the recent derby win could stand us in good stead on Wednesday.

“It was huge,” she said.

“It shows the character we have in the team and what we’re trying to do this season by winning titles and games. That was a big game.

“We have had some very good performances this season, as a team we just pull together in special moments. We went behind but we’re so much better at that this season than we were last year.

“In the end we came out with the result that we wanted – three points and a win at Old Trafford, you can’t complain!

“We know we need the result to get into the next round so it’s a mentality thing. We have to put our all into it. It’s a derby so it’s always going to be extra competitive but we know we have to come out with a result.”
