New signing Poppy Pritchard is under no illusions of the sizeable challenges that lie ahead of her after joining City from Championship side Durham.

Pritchard made 17 appearances for Durham, scoring twice in her breakthrough season, and has also represented her country three times so far.

And while she knows there’s plenty of hard work ahead, the forward is excited by what the future holds for her at City.

“Obviously, going from the Durham Academy to playing in the Championship was a big difference,” she said.

“So is the Championship to WSL, but playing at the level definitely gave me an insight into what the women’s game is going to be like.”

The England Under-19 forward has played alongside City youngster Lois Marley-Paraskevas for her country and there are a number of other City youngsters pushing for international recognition.

Pritchard is looking forward to meeting her new team-mates and says she met a former City legend recently.

“I didn’t have the chance to speak to any of them yet, but I’ve spoken to Jill Scott before, and I know that she’s a great human and really nice,” she said.

“You could tell that she really cared about the Club, and she was really supportive and clearly cared about like young players.”

She also can’t wait to play at the Joie Stadium – and one day the Etihad – after experiencing what the City supporters are like first hand.

“Yeah, I’ve heard that they’re really great fans,” she said.

“I can’t wait to see them all at the Joie Stadium.”
