Gareth Taylor says he is blown away by the level of determination his City side showed in our 1-0 Continental Cup win over Spurs.

Yui Hasegawa‘s stunning long-range shot from the edge of the box clipped the crossbar before rippling the net to give City the lead near the half hour mark.

The victory at Brisbane Road was City’s ninth consecutive win in all competitions and saw us register a third successive clean sheet.

And with vital games against Arsenal and Chelsea on the horizon in the FA Cup and Barclays Women’s Super League, Taylor is impressed by the performance levels of his squad and the extraordinary heights they’ve reached.

“We are showing a real determination now that I’ve not seen previously,” said Taylor.

“I think the group has been great and when you think about it as well it’s been the first game we’ve had without Steph [Houghton] being present and she drives the team whether that’s playing or not playing.

“Of course Jill [Roord] as well who has been a big loss for us.

“But fair play, Jess Park stepped up and did well in that position tonight.

“[Laura] Coombsy and [Filippa] Angeldahl as well. It bodes well for the future and we are looking forward to the next couple of games.”
