Four Manchester City players recently surprised local school children at a City in the Community session with a twist.

Twenty-five pupils from St. Kentigern’s Primary School received an unexpected visit whilst they attended the City Football Academy for a football skills workshop.

Led by City in the Community coaches, the year 5 class took part in a variety of sessions focusing on ball skills, coordination and control.

The group then played a tournament of mini matches to put what they’d learnt into practice, but the session didn’t end there.

Julia Spetsmark all stopped by to take part in the workshop, helping the class with their skills, whilst also giving some great advice on what it takes to become a professional footballer.

Commenting on the session, one pupil said: “Today we’ve been doing lots of skills and playing matches. Jill Scott taught us a really cool trick too. You have to start with knee ups, do a roll over and then finish with ‘keepy upys’, it’s definitely going to take some practice.”

Their PE teacher added: “It’s an amazing opportunity for the class to meet positive female role models like Steph, and to be able to train in a facility like this. The children have thoroughly enjoyed the day.”
