Brian Barry-Murphy’s young side fly out to Switzerland early next week ahead of tackling Young Boys on Wednesday, October 25, in a game that will be screened live on CITY+ with kick-off slated for 13.30pm (UK).

It’s the first of two back-to-back assignments against the Swiss youngsters with Young Boys then coming to the Joie Stadium early next month for the return fixture.

City, who reached the last 16 of last season’s UEFA Youth League, have made a positive start to this term’s campaign.

We despatched Red Star Belgrade 5-2 in our opening group tie before then drawing 1-1 away to an impressive RB Leipzig Under-19s earlier this month to lie top of Group G with four points.

And for Susoho, the incentive is crystal clear ahead of our trip to Berne.

“If we can win both games against Young Boys, I think it will give us a very good chance in terms of the group and getting through to the last 16,” the midfielder declared.

“Winning 5-2 against Red Star Belgrade in the first game was a really good way to start the competition and then to draw 1-1 away at RB Leipzig was also a really decent result.

“Our motivation is to do better than last year and to try to go as far as we can.

“To lose in the 16 at Hajduk Split was very tough as we felt we deserved a lot more.

“In terms of the UEFA Youth League overall, for me I think the competition is a very good example of how to push yourself to play against different type of players, different styles, different teams.

“It’s the closest thing to the Champions League you get as a young player so it’s the best motivation you can have.

“Playing in the UEFA Youth League also brings us a lot closer so that we know each other more and helps us get even closer as a group.

“It’s something we all enjoy.”
