Caballero: It's in our hands

RALLYING CRY: Willy Caballero

RALLYING CRY: Willy Caballero

Goalkeeper Willy Caballero has reminded his team-mates that Man City’s Champions League future is in their own hands ahead of the game with West Brom.

The Argentinian stopper was close to the major talking point of Saturday’s game against Leicester when Riyad Mahrez’ penalty was disallowed for a double kick.

And he has urged his fellow Blues to take advantage of that turn of events and clinch a top four spot.

Caballero said: “I had an exceptional view of the action. I saw it before in Spain or Argentina but never happened to me before. I remember Palermo scoring a penalty like this but the goal was conceded. We were lucky because the referee today took the right decision.

“We played an amazing first half, we scored two beautiful goals but we conceded so easily. We couldn’t finish the game as good as we wanted but the most important thing here is that the goal we have until the end of the season is in our hand.

City v West Brom: Key info

“We are finishing the season and achieving our last target – probably in the next game, but today it was the line of the whole season, we created a lot of chances but we couldn’t conclude them.”

Caballero paid tribute to David Silva after the Leicester game.

The goalkeeper added: “He brings a lot of things. He is an unbelievable player with fantastic skills. He brings us something different and for the people as well. When he is on the pitch the rest of the team increase their performances.”
