Paul Pogba, Raheem Sterling, Fabian Delph... they all feature in this morning’s pages and as always, each source claims to have ‘the latest’ on the rumours.

Who shall we start with today? Well, the Mirror‘s story on Pogba appears to be top of the bill, so let’s go for that one.

According to the paper, the Blues are willing to meet his £71million asking price and wage demands but are awaiting a response from the midfielder himself before placing a formal bid.

So says Simon Mullock: “City have held negotiations with Juventus to discover their valuation – and have made it clear they are willing to meet the asking price of €100million (£70.92million) up front as well as a package of add-ons.

“City have also spoken to Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, and are prepared to pay the 22-year-old a staggering £240,000-a-week basic, plus huge bonuses.

“But City are holding back on making a bid to Juventus until Pogba tells them he wants to come to the Etihad.

“They do not want to be used as a bargaining tool by either Juve or the player to drive up offers from rival clubs.

“Pogba, the former Manchester United starlet, is still agonising over his future. Barcelona are City’s biggest threat, despite interest from Real Madrid, Paris St Germain and Chelsea.”

Meanwhile, the same source also report Liverpool are refusing to lower their £50million asking price for Sterling.

Writes Mullock: “City’s initial offer of £25million was rejected immediately, but Liverpool were tempted by a second bid of £35million plus £5million in add-ons.

“A third offer that would enable them to get close to their £50million valuation once add-ons are included is likely to succeed.”

Apparently, a senior Anfield source stated: “City have behaved honourably throughout negotiations, but they know what our valuation is. It is up to them whether they want to meet it.”

Elsewhere, the Telegraph argue Delph could be on his way to the Etihad Stadium for just £8million, although the figure bandied around yesterday was£10million.

John Percy explains: “Delph signed a four-and-a-half year deal in January, with his previous contract running out at the end of the season, but there was a clause inserted that allows interested clubs to take him for an surprisingly low price ahead of the next campaign. The clause is understood to only apply to teams competing in European competition.

“The midfielder is on City’s list of targets while he could now be added to other Premier League clubs’ priorities after nailing down a regular place in Roy Hodgson’s England squad.

“It is believed that Delph agreed the compromise with Villa chairman Randy Lerner during negotiations over his new contract, with both parties accepting a humble buy-out clause.

“Lerner is expected to sever his ties with Villa this summer, with a party being granted an exclusivity agreement, and Delph could also depart before the new Premier League season.”
