It’s Monday morning and as City fans head to work, the club are working hard to secure major transfer deals, according to reports.

Sky Sports believe both of the summer’s most long-winded sagas, that of the rumoured interest in Leroy Sane and John Stones, could be about to come to an end.

Michael Kelleher writes: “Sane informed the German club last week he wanted to leave to push through a transfer to City, after talks between the clubs stalled because they couldn’t agree on the valuation of the player.

“The 20-year-old can operate on either flank and his arrival would further bolster Pep Guardiola’s attacking options following the acquisition of Nolito for £13.8m from Celta Vigo earlier this summer.

“City’s owners are also confident they can wrap up a deal for Everton defender John Stones in the next week for a fee in the region of £50m, according to Sky sources.

“Guardiola confirmed recently that discussions with Everton were ongoing and City are now hopeful a deal is nearing completion.

“The Spaniard wants to implement more of a passing strategy this season and views Stones - well known for his ability on the ball - as the perfect candidate to build City’s attacks from the back.”

However, the Express have reported that Schalke have issued City with an ultimatum if they want to sign Germany winger Sane.

Jack Otway penned: “Schalke’s sporting director Chris Heidel has revealed City they must land their man before the Bundesliga side fly out to Austria for pre-season.”

Also from Sky Sports this morning; they believe that City have their sights on more targets before the transfer deadline passes.

Kelleher says: “It is also understood City are in talks to sign Gabriel Jesus and Marlos Moreno, and that they could elect to pursue centre-back Leonardo Bonucci if they are unable to agree a deal for Stones.”

Elsewhere, Spanish newspaper SPORT believe that City will have to battle Barcelona if they are to sign Brazil forward Gabriel Jesus.

Lluis Miguelsanz and Joaquim Piera explain: “Barcelona’s objective with Gabriel Jesus is pay a reasonable transfer fee, although they know they will have to offer the player a big salary.

“He has a large offer from Manchester City, but Barcelona wanted to check the matter out first hand. It’s tricky but the option to sign him is not yet removed.”
