Today marks the start of an exciting week for City, as the Premier League returns this weekend – but could it also bring new faces to the Etihad Stadium?

This morning’s headlines suggest not, as it’s reported two alleged targets have stated their intentions to stay put.

According to Goal’s Simon Harrison: “Borussia Dortmund’s star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang insists he will definitely not be leaving the club in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.

“The Gabon international has regularly spoken of his ambition to play for Real Madrid and has been linked with a move to Premier League side Manchester City.

“But Aubameyang, who has scored 80 goals for Dortmund since joining from Saint-Etienne in 2013, wants to focus on challenging Bayern Munich’s dominance of the Bundesliga rather than speculation over his future.”

Aubameyang explained at a press conference: “I will definitely stay at BVB and I would like to no longer respond to this question.

“We hope that we can annoy Bayern.”

Meanwhile, Football Italia explain: “It is reported that Leonardo Bonucci has turned down the chance to join Manchester City from Juventus.

“The 29-year-old has been with the Bianconeri since 2010, forming part of a formidable back three alongside Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini for both club and country.

“His performances have caught the eye of new City boss Pep Guardiola, who has been given a remit of winning the Champions League during his tenure at Etihad Stadium.

“However, Gazzetta dello Sport say that Bonucci has rejected the opportunity of doubling what he currently earns in Turin, choosing instead to remain with Max Allegri’s team as they try to conquer Europe themselves.

“The Italian sports daily also claim that Juve will now reward their centre-back’s loyalty by offering him a new improved contract at the club.”

Elsewhere, Club Call claim the Blues are still chasing John Stones and may sell Wilfried Bony as part of the exchange.

An article reads: “The Ivory Coast striker has been proposed as a potential makeweight in Manchester City’s repeated attempts to prise away £50million-rated Toffees defender John Stones.

“Bony was snapped in his black Range Rover near Liverpool’s Lime Street Station on Friday, and sources close to the player have suggested Bony is certainly up for the switch to Goodison Park.

“However it is understood Everton boss Ronaldo Koeman is not keen on including Bony in the equation for Stones, with their Manchester counterparts still valuing the player at the £27m they paid to Swansea for him back in January 2015.

“There appears to have been significant headway made in the last couple of days, with City now prepared to value Bony at £15m, and a further £35m in cash also making its way down the East Lancs Road for Stones.”

Finally, Gazzetta World believe three Italian clubs are interested in Samir Nasri – Inter Milan, AC Milan and Roma.

Writes Caterina Mirra: “Nerazzurri coach Roberto Mancini had already made enquiries about Nasri as early as April this year and is a fan of the player who he coached at the Etihad during his time in charge.

“However, Inter aren’t the only Italian side who are considering the former Arsenal man with L’Equipe reporting that both the Rossoneri and Roma are also mulling over a move for him.

“If the Citizens are to sell Nasri before the end of the transfer window, they are looking to secure a fee of €20m.”

With Mancini now having departed Inter, it remains to be seen whether the Nerazzurri’s interest will continue.
