There’s a fair bit of speculation sprinkled around with, not for the first time since Tuesday night, French youngster Kylian Mbappe featuring.
According to the Sun, though, he is not the only Monaco man City are tracking.
Phil Thomas reports: “Mbappe is just one of four players from Tuesday’s Champions League opponents that are being monitored by Guardiola, who plans a massive spree at the end of the season.
“He is also keeping tabs on midfielder Thomas Lemar as well as full-backs Fabinho and Benjamin Mendy, who would cost £30million apiece.”
The MEN follow up on rumours that have been percolating this week relating to Brazilian full-back Dani Alves.
Stuart Brennan writes: “”The former Barcelona star is now 33 and turning out for Juventus - but is said to be keen on playing in the Premier League before he hangs up his boots.”
He adds: “Alves joined Juve as a free agent last summer, but has not nailed down a place with the Serie A side – in fact he has been shunted out of the team in favour of Stephan Lichtsteiner, also strongly linked with City in the past.
“But Alves went on as a substitute in the 2-0 Champions League win over Porto in midweek, and scored.”
To the more youthful end of the playing spectrum and talkSPORT, with the help of Whoscored.com, have compiled a list of the top five 19-year-olds playing in Europe.
City’s Gabriel Jesus features alongside four other highly-rated starlets.
Finally, the Daily Mirror report that City could be locked in race with cross-town rivals United for young Italian keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Steve Bates reflects: “Donnarumma – who was 18 yesterday – broke into the Milan first team last season, making his Serie A debut at 16 years 242 days against Sassuolo to become the second youngest keeper to play in Italy’s top division.
“He also broke the record as the youngest to play in Italy’s Under-21 side at 17 years 28 days a year ago.
“His displays for Milan have captured the attention of the top clubs in Europe. Thirteen-time Scudetto winners Milan are no longer the financial powerhouse they once were and clubs such as Real Madrid, United, City and Paris Saint-Germain could make them an offer they would find hard to resist.”
