Bernardo Silva is the man tipped to make an impact, while, naturally, there are some familiar names churned out of the transfer rumour mill.
We’ll begin with our recent arrival, who has earned positive reviews from the Premier League’s Adrian Clarke.
“The Portuguese wide man is already an accomplished creative presence and finisher,” writes Clarke.
“Also known as “the little Messi”, his quick feet and eye for a slide-rule pass are two qualities guaranteed to excite the fans.
“City’s new acquisition, who possesses a gorgeous left foot, loves to drift inside instead of holding his width.
“Then, once he creates space for himself in those areas, he is a menace for opponents.”
Moving onto transfer rumours – it is July after all – and Benjamin Mendy is once again a feature of the City-centric gossip.
The Independent’s Jack Pitt-Brooke writes: “After signing Kyle Walker from Tottenham on Friday, City are now targeting a similar player on the other flank and France international Mendy is the man that they want.
“City have been negotiating with Monaco for weeks but they are now close to agreeing a fee for Mendy which is likely to be close to the £50m that City paid for Walker. Only the minor details of the deal remain to be agreed, as well as Mendy’s medical.”
Another name which has cropped up regularly in this summer’s Media Watch, is that of Alexis Sanchez, and that trend continues this morning.
The Mirror’s John Cross is the man with the latest story concerning the forward.
“Manchester City are in pole position and know Arsenal are facing a dilemma because Sanchez could leave for nothing in a year’s time, at the end of his contract,” he reports.
“City will be encouraged by the comments the Chilean striker made over the weekend while on holiday in his homeland and believe they can lure him to the Etihad for a reunion with his old Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola.”
That’s it today, Blues. Stay tuned for all our latest content as the lads fly out to the US for pre-season tour.
