There’s still been some headlines about the club however so let’s take a look.
Pablo Zabaleta has revealed his take on life under Pep Guardiola in an exclusive interview with talkSPORT.
Speaking of the Catalan, he said: “His passion is to try always to improve, or to try to find the right way to attack. We watch a lot of videos, and sometimes I know it’s a bit boring for some of the players to be watching videos every day, but for the players who really love football and enjoy watching... and I’m talking about 20 minutes of video, or 25 minutes, not an hour or two hours!
“He’s always trying to improve the players and to improve the team. He likes to play out from the back and for the player on the ball to have two or three options. He likes always to give you solutions and information. The way he prepares for games is just fantastic.”
Elsewhere, City cult hero Uwe Rosler has been reflecting on his time at the club. The German, who was at City between 1994 and 1998, is now managing League One side Fleetwood Town. He’s delighted to see the changes that have taken place.
Speaking to the Guardian, he said: “I didn’t win the Premier League, I didn’t win the FA Cup, but I am very happy that I won a lot of hearts of the supporters. City never forgot me and I never forgot them.
“You can’t compare the Etihad to Maine Road. You ask me where I want to play and a hundred times out of a hundred I would say Maine Road.
“I think I was very fortunate to play in front of the old Kippax and in a stadium that had 35,000 people singing from every corner. I feel really privileged to have had that time.”
Moving on to transfer gossip now and the Daily Mail believe Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson could make the move to one of the Premier League’s bigger clubs, including City.
Sami Mokbel speculates: “Gibson is poised for a big-money switch to one of the Premier League’s top-six clubs ahead of next season.
“Boro want to keep Gibson, particularly if they stay in the Premier League, but are increasingly resigned to his departure. They will look to secure a fee of at least £25million.
“Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham have expressed interest in the 24-year-old.”
Finally, the Daily Mail also insist that City are chasing a youngster from one of the most famed academies in the world.
Jonny Singer believes: “Ajax starlet Daishawn Redan, coveted by several of Europe’s top clubs, has decided not to sign a professional deal at the club.
“The 16-year-old, who is a target for Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea, as well as clubs outside of England, could now spark a battle for his signature.”
