Kevin De Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus and a reported Serie A transfer target are the City-centric headlines that comprise Wednesday’s Media Watch.

We’ll begin with our Belgian midfielder, who has been singled out by ESPN’s Iain Macintosh as the columnist suggests our No.17 is playing the best football of his career.

He writes: “Kevin de Bruyne is in the form of his life.

“De Bruyne has frequently impressed since he returned to England with Manchester City in 2015, but it’s never been clear exactly where his best position lies.

“He could play in the middle, off either flank or behind the striker but now, having been dropped back to a regular, deeper role in the centre of the midfield, the debate is over.

“This is where he belongs, pulling the strings and spearing defences with perfect through balls.”

Meanwhile, over at The Express, our twenty-year-old Brazilian receives some column inches as Bruce Archer claims he’s set to be handed a new contract.

He reports: “Gabriel Jesus has been nominated for Europe’s presitigous ‘Golden Boy’ award – and is in line to hit the jackpot by signing a new contract just nine months after joining Manchester City in a £27million move from Palmeiras.

“The Brazilian striker’s impressive start in English football – he has scored 12 goals in 17 appearances so far – has prompted the club’s hierarchy to open talks on a new deal to replace the four-and-a-half-year contract he signed in January.”

Finally, the transfer window may be over, but rumours continue to circulate and the latest one links the Blues with a move for a Serie A youngster.

ESPN have the story, which states City have joined the race for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinković-Savić and if you believe reports, we are one of a number of Clubs to do so.

Jack Rathborn pens the piece, which reads: “Another battle between City and United could break out over Sergej Milinkovic-Savic after his string of fine performances for Lazio, though the player’s agent and former Chelsea star Mateja Kezman tells Radio CRC that he is happy in Rome.

“The 22-year-old is also drawing interest from AC Milan, as well as “those in Madrid,” Kezman claims.”

That’s all for today, Blues, but stick with us throughout the day as we build up to our Carabao Cup tie with West Brom this evening.
