Manchester Evening News: Man City ‘to confirm £20m signing’ next week
Writes Joe Bray: “Manchester City will complete the signing of Thiago Almada next week, reports in Portugal say.
“City have been linked with the 18-year-old Argentinian, but have so far been unable to agree a fee for the forward.
“Now, Record (via SportWitness) say City are confident of completing the signing from Velez Sarsfield, with the club prepared to spend the €22m asking price.
“As expected, the report says Almada will be loaned to Sporting for two years, as part of a new arrangement between City and the Portuguese club.”

Sky Sports: Phil Foden does not want ‘special’ David Silva to leave
Foden: “It’s going to be a shame.
“I’m not thinking about that too much because I don’t want it to happen. He’s here now so let’s try and be happy.
“He’s still a great player, you could see on Wednesday how sharp he is even at the age he is. He’s still a special player.”

FourFourTwo: Relentless Manchester City show no signs of slowing down under Guardiola
“Up front Sergio Aguero remains the key man having firmly re-established himself as first-choice striker under Guardiola while Raheem Sterling is now undoubtedly world class and Kevin De Bruyne is fit again.
“David Silva may be entering his final season at City but Phil Foden looks ready to step into his boots and Bernardo Silva is equally dangerous.
“Other factors such as the Champions League, injuries and suspensions could come into play but, at the start of the season, the smart money will be on City making it three in a row.”
Manchester Evening News: Man City might have found their next midfield gem
Tyrone Marshall on Tommy Doyle: “He “only has eyes for City” and has been inspired by the progress of fellow midfield academy graduate Phil Foden, who is two years older than Doyle.
“The two get on well off the pitch and Foden‘s integration into the first team has given belief to others in the academy that there is a path to follow, if you’re good enough.
“Over the last 10 days Doyle has given all at City an indication that he might just have what it takes. He certainly has the pedigree for a long career at the club.”
