City host Port Vale in the FA Cup on Saturday teatime, looking to defend the trophy we won in spectacular fashion back in May.

And there’s plenty of discussion about that game on the sports pages this morning.

Here’s the best of the previews…

Manchester Evening News: The big questions Guardiola must weigh up vs Port Vale

Simon Bajkowski writes: Eric Garcia and Foden are part of the first team furniture now, but which other youngsters could feature in this one?

Central midfielder Tommy Doyle impressed on debut earlier this season, Taylor Harwood-Bellis has emerged as another prospect at centre-back and full-back Alpha Dionkou has made a few matchday squads. If Guardiola wants to rest any of his forward options, Ian-Carlo Poveda and Adrian Bernabe have worked regularly with the manager while there is a lot of excitement around Jayden Braaf.

Manchester Evening News: How City should line up v Port Vale

Stuart Brennan writes: Pep Guardiola trusted teenage centre backs Eric Garcia and Taylor Harwood-Bellis against Championship promotion contenders Preston, and backed Tommy Doyle against Southampton, also in the Carabao Cup.

Garcia is due a rest after three consecutive starts in five days, so it makes sense to pair up Harwood-Bellis with John Stones, who returns after injury.

With the semi against United just three days away, Guardiola could easily field 11 players who don’t have to start at Old Trafford, as long as the illness which has affected the camp is not still rife.

Angelino can reprise the left-wing role he performed well against Oxford, Joao Cancelo should get another run-out and with Bernardo Silva due a start, David Silva back from injury and Gabriel Jesus ready to go again, there is plenty of quality available.

StokeOnTrentLive: Robbie Williams on Port Vale’s big game at City

Robbie Williams said: It’s an excellent windfall for the club first and foremost, much-needed money coming into the coffers.

Secondly, it’ll be a great day out. Thirdly, Vale fans [can] go and watch in the flesh the great talent that we have in this country... Miracles do happen, but maybe this is expecting a miracle a bit too far. Who knows? Pep [Guardiola] might put out his junior squad. Please Pep.
