Jack Grealish has expressed his joy after City overcame Sevilla to win the UEFA Super Cup for the first time.

Pep Guardiola‘s side fought back from a goal down to earn a draw in normal time, before emerging victorious 5-4 in the proceeding penalty shoot-out in Athens.

Grealish, who played the entire 90 minutes, was a constant threat on the left flank and helped the Treble winners add the Super Cup to our growing trophy collection.

The winger was overjoyed after tasting more success with the Club. He said:

“It was unbelievable. The manager made it clear how much he wants the club to win this trophy. That gave us more of an urge. It was a brilliant feeling.

“Over the last 10-15 years this club has been so successful, winning so many Premier Leagues, FA Cups, Carabao Cups. But this is the one we’ve been waiting for.

“We won the Champions League in June. This is to add another one to the collection for the club personally for myself too, another one to the list.

“It was so hot and humid. We knew what they were good at, crosses into the box, they had a few good chances too, so fair play to them.

“We had more possession and more shots. They made it hard for us so fair play to them. They know what they’re good at. It was a difficult game.

“We’ll go home tonight, eat some nice food and chill. Straight recovery and then back to the Premier League.”

City levelled on the night through Academy graduate Cole Palmer, who was a bright spark in attack for Guardiola‘s side.

Grealish, who has built a good relationship with the youngster, had glowing words for the 21-year-old.

Palmer was brilliant tonight,” he said. “A great goal from him and a great finish. A good night all around.

“That’s what you have to do as a young lad. I was in that position myself at Aston Villa. You have to try and perform when given the chance.

“He’s such a nice kid honestly, he’s a brilliant guy and I’m so happy for him.”
