John Stones' commanding performance against Bayern Munich has seen him named UEFA Champions League Player of the Week.

But the England international’s performance was about much more than his assist, with him also making an important contribution as City became the first side to keep a clean sheet against the visitors since September.

Stones once again moved into midfield with typical composure when Pep Guardiola‘s men had possession at the Etihad, helping to build attacks from deep.

It’s a role which he’s recently described as a ‘learning curve’, but one that he’s nonetheless still relishing.

The defender pipped Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, AC Milan’s Brahim Diaz and Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni to the prize.

Congratulations to John on being named UEFA Champions League Player of the Week!
