Who gets your vote from our October Etihad Player of the Month nominees?

The third month of the 2023/24 season saw City tally four victories across the Premier League and Champions League, including our emphatic 3-0 win over Manchester United in the first derby of the campaign.

We also extended our unbeaten run in Europe to 17 games with 3-1 away victories over RB Leipzig and Young Boys to top off another thrilling month of football from Pep Guardiola’s squad.

It was tricky to finalise the list, but for October’s vote, the choice has been narrowed down to the trio of Rico Lewis, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden.

RICO LEWIS

Our versatile defender has continued to impress when selected to play by Guardiola in both the Champions League and Premier League.

Lewis had fantastic spells in the centre of the pitch in our European wins over RB Leipzig and Young Boys.

Tallying an assist in the former before being selected as UEFA Man of the Match for his performance in the latter, the 18-year-old has become a reliable figure for the boss.

Despite our narrow defeat to Arsenal, Lewis also showed tenacity and grit against a tough Mikel Arteta side as he was once again called upon to play in midfield in Rodrigo‘s absence.

ERLING HAALAND

Of course our number nine had to be shortlisted for Etihad Player of the Month after scoring five goals in five games as he’s enjoyed a fantastic start to the 2023/24 campaign.

All of Haaland’s goal came in the latter stages of the month, bagging a brace against RB Leipzig before scoring our decisive goal in our 2-1 win over Brighton at the Etihad.

His two goals in our victory over Manchester United set another record as he became the fastest player to score 20 goals in Premier League away fixtures, doing so in just 23 appearances.

Our target man is showing no signs of slowing down as he looks to have another impressive season in sky blue.

PHIL FODEN

It’s the England international’s second nomination in three months for the Etihad Player of the Month award as he continues to go from strength to strength this season in a variety of positions.

Foden’s energy on the pitch has been vital for City as we looked to return to winning ways after back-to-back defeats at the end of September, proving to be a key player in our four wins this past month.

The winger set the tone in our victory over RB Leipzig, scoring our first of three that evening before playing the entirety of our wins over Brighton and Manchester United.

The boy from Stockport loves a Manchester derby as he scored our final goal of the evening and was given the red carpet treatment by Haaland who let Foden celebrate in style.

Three fantastic contenders – but who gets your winning vote?

The poll is open now and we will announce the winner next week.
