Steve Howey pinpointed Bernardo Silva’s goal as his highlight of the 6-1 win over Bournemouth.

Bernardo was played in brilliantly by Player of the Match Jeremy Doku and produced a calm, classy, clinical finish to beat Andrei Radu in the Cherries goal.

It was a moment that had former defender Howey drooling as he watched the action as a pundit on Matchday Live.

“I have to say Bernardo Silva’s goal was absolutely gorgeous to watch,” said Howey.

“I think he’s a wizard anyway. I think he’s just a wonderful player.

“But to watch it live and see how good he actually is, just the composure he had and the dink over the goalkeeper. Wow!

“I just wish it had hit the back of the net rather than the lad claiming it [hadn’t crossed the line].

“But wow what a player.”

Fellow pundit and ex-defender Joleon Lescott was also mesmerised by the second half finish.

It took a lot of ingenuity from Bernardo to slip past Lloyd Kelly before cheekily chipping home.

And Lescott believes the inventive, imaginative move was played out in the midfielder’s head well before he finished.

“I think he was aware what he was going to do before he even got to that situation,” added Lescott.

“I don’t think it was a case of ‘oh now I’m here, what am I going to do?’

“He was ‘I am going to do this, create this space and as soon as I have this space I know where the space is after that’ and it was above the goalie.”
