For his 52nd birthday, we’ve picked out some of the most outstanding numbers since he arrived at the Etihad Stadium in 2016.

Matches won

Guardiola has won 275 of his 381 matches across all competitions since taking charge at City.

This is a win percentage of more than 72%, meaning he has won almost three quarters of all games played.

Broken down, this includes 181 wins in the Premier League from 246 games and 44 victories from 68 UEFA Champions League matches.

Goals scored

Averaging an incredible 2.45 goals a game, Pep’s City have scored 934 goals in 381 matches.

This includes 611 strikes in the Premier League, 79 more than Liverpool who are the next most prolific side over that period.

City have also clocked up 157 goals in the UEFA Champions League, 90 in the FA Cup and 66 in the League Cup.

Goal difference

Having dominated the Premier League during his reign, it’s no surprise that City are so far in credit in terms of goal difference.

The Blues have a whopping goal difference of +617 since Guardiola came to the Club. That derives from 934 goals scored and just 317 conceded across all competitions.

In the Premier League, we have conceded 200 times. That is 28 fewer than Liverpool, who have the next tightest defence to have played every season in the Premier League since 2016/17.

Clean sheets

Guardiola‘s football is all about control. A key reason for that is to keep the ball away from our goal and prevent goalscoring opportunities for our opponents.

It’s those tactics, and the exceptional work ethic throughout our squad, that have seen us collect 172 clean sheets from 381 matches. That means the Blues keep a clean sheet in 45% of the matches we play.

Ederson is currently 17th on the list of goalkeepers in the Premier League era in terms of clean sheets. He has kept 98 during his time here, which began one season after the arrival of Guardiola.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

Guardiola has been named Premier League Manager of the Year on three occasions. He earned the crown in 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2020/21. He has picked up the Manager of the Month award on 11 occasions.

He has also been added to the League Managers Association Hall of Fame during his time at City.

Premier League points earned

City have been the best team in the Premier League across Guardiola‘s six and a half seasons in Manchester. Not only have we won four of the six trophies to have been claimed, we have racked up 575 points from 246 games.

That is 39 more than Liverpool, who have been the second best side over that time, and more than 100 ahead of third placed Chelsea.

Longest winning run

Pep’s longest winning run at City is an incredible 21 matches from December 2020 to March 2021.

That stretch of victories included 15 Premier League triumphs, plus three FA Cup, two League Cup and one UEFA Champions League win.

An 18-match streak achieved in our historic 2017/18 Premier League-winning campaign, remains a record to this day with only Liverpool able to match the feat since (October 2019 – February 2020).

From everyone at Manchester City, happy birthday Pep!
