Filippa Angeldahl and Julie Blakstad have been selected to represent Sweden and Norway respectively ahead of their opening UEFA Nations League fixtures.

The midfielder’s nation have been placed in Group A4, with a rerun of this summer’s World Cup semi-final against Spain representing their opening fixture.

That takes place on Friday 22 September in Gothenburg, with kick-off set for 17:30 (UK).

Angeldahl and co. then face an away clash against Italy on Tuesday 26 September, with the action getting under way at 16:45.

After enjoying a strong end to the 2022/23 campaign, City’s number 12 was a key figure for her nation at this summer’s World Cup, helping Sweden finish third.

The midfielder was even on the scoresheet in a quarter-final triumph over Japan, scoring what proved to be the game’s decisive goal from the spot in a 2-1 victory.

Elsewhere, Julie Blakstad has also been included in Norway’s squad for the upcoming international break.

The winger spent the second half of last season on loan at Swedish side BK Hacken, after grabbing nine goals in sixteen appearances.

Her nation face Austria on Friday in Nations League Group A2, before locking horns with Portugal four days later in Barcelos.

That encounter gets under way at 18:15, with a City-focused match report of the encounter, and all other international fixtures across the break, available to view on mancity.com and the official Man City app.

Congratulations to Filippa and Julie on their international call-ups.
