New signing Laura Blindkilde Brown believes her move to Manchester City can help elevate her own game to the next level.

The exciting dynamic midfield talent has made the move from Aston Villa, adding further strength to Gareth Taylor’s squad following the arrivals of Poppy Pritchard and Tara O’Hanlon, with Blindkilde Brown joining City on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

An England Under-19 international and twice voted Young Player of the Year at Villa, Blindkilde Brown has made the move to the Joie Stadium already armed with a reputation for being one of the Barclays Women’s Super League’s most exciting young talents.

Reflecting on the move, the 20-year-old said the chance to further develop and hone her craft alongside City’s array of established world-class players will only help accelerate her own progress and raise her game to new standards.

And she says her experience from facing City whilst at Villa has given her an even greater appreciation of the star quality that underpins Taylor’s squad.

“I think the style of play here is really suited to me,” said Blindkilde Brown.

“Hopefully it just develops me even more in my career.

“I’ve been at Villa a lot of my career but it’s something new and I’ll be training with some of the best players in the world. It’s definitely a big step.

“It’s always a tough one [facing City], we always said that at Villa. We always knew we wouldn’t have as much of the ball.

“City are so good on the ball, dominate it all the time and have so much threat going forward. It’s always been challenging playing them.”

Though facing twin challenges of moving to both a new club and new city, there will be a few familiar faces to help Blindkilde Brown as she settles in and adapts to life at City.

She already knows both Ruby Mace and Khiara Keating from the trio’s time together with the England Under-19s.

And Laura says she is already excited about linking up once more – this time on a permanent basis!

“I’ve spoken to Ruby a little bit,” Blindkilde Brown added during her first interview.

“She’s really excited as well and I can’t wait to play with her and be with her for the next couple of years.”
