With seven successive WSL victories, City are in the thick of the rapidly developing title race, sitting just three points behind league leaders Chelsea.

United, however, know a positive result in the derby could see them propelled back into the mix, with Marc Skinner’s side currently fourth, seven points behind City with nine matches still to play.

Gareth Taylor’s side are aiming to maintain our 100% record against our rivals in 2023/24, having already come out on top in both the reverse league fixture and in the Continental Cup.

Goals from Jill Roord, Lauren Hemp and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw earned City a deserved 3-1 win at Old Trafford in November’s WSL clash, dealing United their first defeat at the stadium in the first women’s derby to take place there.

Two months later, second half strikes from Chloe Kelly and Hemp saw us grind out a crucial Conti Cup group stage win at the Joie Stadium, with the 2-1 triumph seeing us progress to the knockout stages at the expense of our rivals.

The latest showdown between the sides will represent our first match at the Etihad since December 2022, when City and United played out an exciting 1-1 draw.

Laura Coombs was our derby hero that day, firing home a second half equaliser to cancel out Leah Galton’s opener in front of a record attendance of 44,259 supporters.
