Juventus’ Joao Cancelo’s name has once again been linked with City, while elsewhere in the media, Oleksandr Zinchenko has been reflecting on an historic season.
Portugal is where we’ll start though, with reports in Cancelo’s homeland claiming a deal for the full-back is edging ever closer.
The Manchester Evening News have picked up the story and Daniel Murphy writes: “City have been heavily linked with Crystal Palace’s star right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka but reports in Portugal suggest a move for Cancelo may be on the cards.
“The right-back has had a mixed season in Turin, with his form tailing off after a brilliant start at the Italian champions.
“Newspaper Record reports that City have ‘approached the value that Juventus have on their defender, which is said to be ‘€60m.’”
To City full-backs now and Zinchenko has told journalists that the Premier League champions are aiming to be even better next season.
Speaking to Sport360, he said: “We did an unbelievable job and we have made history, nothing can take that away from us.
“But I also see in this team the desire to do more. This is why we are Manchester City.
“We just have to show ourselves, our quality, in every single game for the future.
“We want to be the greatest team [in English football]. That’s the target and we just have to improve ourselves. Especially me, because I know I can get better.”
Meanwhile, former City winger, Shaun Wright-Phillips has revealed how impressed he has been with how Raheem Sterling conducts himself on and off the pitch, citing him as an excellent role model.
Goal have the story, in which Wright-Phillips says: “People forget that Sterling is still young, in footballing terms he’s still a baby.
“He’s meant to be learning but he’s dealing with things that a more experienced pro should be dealing with, and doing it perfectly.
“He’s answered everything in the right way by letting his football do the talking. It’s very powerful what he has done.”
That’s all for today, but we’ll be back with more paper talk tomorrow.
