Ederson and Sergio Aguero have both been lauded by Premier League colleagues, while there’s talk of the impact two youngsters could have should Manchester City move for them this summer.
We’ll start with our Brazilian shot stopper, who has received a glittering review from Kasper Schmeichel.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the Leicester City keeper said: “I would say Ederson along with Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Jan Oblak are the three best goalkeepers in the world and have been for a while for me.
“The way Ederson plays is so brave. To dare to play like that is bravery and it also enables City to play with a much higher press. They are able to really press because they know any ball in behind he will sweep up.”
And there’s similar praise for Aguero from elsewhere in the Premier League.
Eden Hazard has revealed the Argentine received his vote for the PFA Player of the Year.
Goal have the quotes from Chelsea’s No.10, who said: “I voted for Sergio Aguero, not because he scored a hat-trick against us! He has been playing in the Premier League for eight years now and in that time he is the guy who is always consistent.
“Sometimes he is injured but when he’s on the pitch, he’s scoring a lot of goals. So, for me, he is the best.”
To transfer gossip now and the Manchester Evening News has considered the impact Matthijs de Ligt might have should he leave Ajax, with Tyrone Marshall identifying the defender as having similar qualities to Vincent Kompany.
He writes: “Signing de Ligt would solve any issues City might feel they have when Kompany does hang up his boots.
“Not only he is already a world class central defender, but he is a leader as well, captaining Ajax brilliantly this season despite his tender years.”
Today’s Media Watch concludes with talk of the talents of Leicester’s Youri Tielemans.
Paul Merson is a big fan of the playmaker and has suggested City should be keeping an eye on the Belgian.
Quoted in The Mirror, Merson said: “I think he can go to any of the top four, or top six.
“If I was Arsenal or Man United, I’d be looking at him all day long, all day long.
“Even Man City, even at Man City I’d be looking, I think he’s that good.”
That’s all for today, but stay tuned to mancity.com for all the build up ahead of tonight’s game against Leicester.
