It was a fantastic night for Manchester City at the 2023 Ballon d’Or.

City won two prestigious honours on the evening in Paris while a host of our men’s and women’s players placed well in the main awards ceremony.

Erling Haaland emerged victorious in the Gerd Muller Trophy, handed out to the top scorer in domestic and international competition while we also won Men’s Club of the Year.

Haaland, who enjoyed an incredible 2022/23 season as we won the Treble, also finished second in the overall men’s Ballon d’Or award.

The star striker scored 36 goals in the top-flight – a new record – beating the previous best of 34 from Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole.

Overall, the 23-year-old plundered 52 goals in 53 games, scoring 36 in the Premier League, 12 in the Champions League, three in the FA Cup and one in the Carabao Cup.

He was pipped to the top spot by Lionel Messi, who was a driving force for Argentina in their 2023 World Cup win in Qatar.

Goalkeeper Ederson also finished second in the Yashin Award, handed out to the best goalkeeper.
