Erling Haaland's second half goal inspired City to a 1-0 Premier League victory over Brentford at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola‘s men came closest to the opener in the first half, with Oscar Bobb, starting his first Premier League game, showing excellent composure to dance beyond a defender and strike on target, only for Ben Mee to expertly clear off the line.

Bernardo Silva also came close but headed wide from a promising position inside the box.

After the interval, we remained on the front foot and with just under 20 minutes left to play, broke the deadlock as Haaland latched onto a Julian Alvarez pass, before racing through on goal and slotting coolly beyond Mark Flekken.

The Norwegian’s tally for the season across all competitions now moves to 22 goals.

Phil Foden and Haaland both had chances to double the lead late on, but we remained in control to secure the three points to move to within one point of league leaders Liverpool.
