PEP GUARDIOLA PREVIEW

Pep Guardiola address the media on Monday afternoon. He was asked for an injury update on the squad before City welcome Young Boys to the Etihad on Tuesday evening, with the main line of questioning focussed on Erling Haaland following his half-time substitution during our 6-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

“I can’t [give an update],” Guardiola told the media in his pre-match press conference.

“We train this afternoon, so I don’t know.

“I speak with the doctor and him [Haaland]. He told me he felt better, but I don’t know.

However, should the Norwegian miss out against the Swiss champions, Guardiola says Argentine international Julian Alvarez will lead the line.

He added: “Tomorrow I will listen to doctor. If he says he doesn’t have pain, I will consider letting him play.

“There are lots of days to recover.

“Right now, if Erling doesn’t play, Julian is going to play there.”

GROUP STANDINGS

We sit top of the group after winning all three of our matches, and can seal qualification into the knockout stages with just a draw (if RB Leipzig beat Red Star Belgrade).

Erling Haaland hit a brace as we made it three wins from three in Group G with a 3-1 victory over Young Boys at the Wankdorf Stadium in Bern last month.

Prior to that, we had never faced the Swiss side.

LAST TIME OUT

Jeremy Doku scored and claimed four assists as we temporarily moved top of the Premier League with a 6-1 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday.

Our last Champions League fixture was the aforementioned 3-1 victory over Young Boys.
